These monsters, often the source of horror stories for the young children of Flaris, are the what is left of the settlement known as Shadia, named after the Hill of Shade that resided nearby. The Goddess Shade herself punished the settlers for defiling her land. On the night of the Great Festival, as the moon rose up from the horizon, the people began to suddenly mutate into monsters. When the people of Sain City came to see Shadia to visit their family and friends that they hadn't heard from in several weeks, all that remained were pumpkin-like monsters and the the final preparations of a festival that never received an ending. You will see them patrolling the fields with a candle in their hand.
