History
The Past
Not long ago, Darkon was a vast wilderness. What is now known as Darkon 1 once featured lush grassy plains, flowing rivers, and expansive pine forests. This untouched landscape began to change when early explorers from Flaris discovered the area’s abundance of rare minerals and gemstones.
Driven by resource demand, expeditions were organized to mine these materials. Workers from Flarine and Saint Morning (Sain City) migrated to this new frontier in search of opportunity. The harshness of manual labor prompted technological innovation, introducing machines such as:
- Drillers – for digging
- CraneMachinery – for demolition
- Elderguards – for hauling materials
- Garbagespiders – for waste management
These machines, however, brought pollution and environmental degradation, leading to the destruction of Darkon’s natural charm. To accommodate the growing workforce and reduce dependency on long airship journeys, Darken City was founded as a hub of recreation and residence.
As mining operations continued, workers eventually broke through a wall with dynamite, revealing ancient ruins. Among these was the mysterious Clockwork's Cage, a remnant of a lost civilization alongside the Guardian Palace. Guarding the entrance was Eshylop, who warped the curious workers into an ancient dome—housing a dormant mechanical monster: Clockwork.
When one worker touched Clockwork’s face, the machine awoke from its slumber. It emitted powerful signals that corrupted all machinery nearby, turning them hostile. Construction halted immediately.
Ironically, this catastrophe may have preserved some of Darkon’s natural beauty, as the untouched wilds of Darkon 3 still echo the continent’s original form.
Present Day
Today, few dare to live in Darkon due to the ever-present danger. Yet, it is this very peril that draws brave adventurers—dreaming of glory and seeking to follow in the footsteps of the Eight Heroes.
Travelers venture into the depths of Darkon 3, chasing destinies hidden in its darkest corners. Despite the past calamities, Darkon remains the pinnacle of industrial development in Madrigal, though all further progress has ceased since the Clockwork incident.
Located on the far western coast of the world map and bordering Flaris, Darkon stands as a testament to both ambition and caution—a land where only the strongest prevail.
